This year, I had the honor to lead #cocreateSA Inspiring Fifty. Co-founded by two extraordinary women, Janneke Niessen and Joelle Frijters, and brought to South Africa by the incomparable Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Bonnie Horbach, the project highlighted the work of women in STEM in SA and created the first list of fifty South African women changing the world through STEM. It was while speaking with Janneke and expressing an interest in AI, that she pointed out the WorldSummitAI might be a must attend for me. I immediately followed the social media, stalked the founders and contacted the organizers!
What is WorldSummit.AI?
On 11 and 12 October, Amsterdam will be hosting the biggest AI Summit. It features talks by over 100 industry insiders and leaders from over 55 countries. Co-founded by Inspired Minds CEO, Sarah Coles-Porter and City.AI cofounders Mike Reiner and Christoph Auer Welsbach, Coles-Porter states that they “did not want to create another dull tech conference and have set out [to] create a summit very much in tune with our community”
Bringing together over 100 “world class speakers and a more hands on practical and experiential vibe, we are providing our community with tangible outcomes of Applied AI that they can apply in their organisations.” The event will service three pillars of the AI System; Enterprise, Startups & Investors and Deep Tech through two-days of knowledge-sharing, networking and keynote presentations.
The event will host the General AI Challenge, awarding $5 million in prizes to entries that are tackling research problems in human-level AI development, and accelerator/co-working company Rockstart will host a startup contest with more details to be announced.
During the two days, there will be five streams;
- Stream 1: AI in Action, Enterprise Stories
- Stream 2: Startups, Scaleups & Unicorns and Startups Competition
- Stream 3: Deep Dive Tech Talks and Ethics in AI
- Stream 4 & 5: Ai Under the Hood
I am very excited about the Ethics in AI stream and cannot wait to hear speakers like Rob High, Kay Firth-Butterfield, Miles Ward, Meredith Whittaker Gayle Sheppard, Wendy Hall… the list is too long, have a look here. It is amazing to think that in a week, I will be spending two days listening to people who have devoted their careers to ask the toughest question in the techonological revolution,
Thank you to the amazing Sarah Coles-Porter, Mike Reiner and Christoph Auer Welsbach for creating the event.
