We visit Brussels to speak at the Geo IoT conference

In June, my colleague Johan, and I traveled to Belgium to speak at the GeoIoT conference. As one of 70 speakers ranging from start-up to the industry giants, 16 thematic sessions were explored. Among the key trends: Indoor Location technologies nearing maturity, beacons market taking off, precision GNSS high potential, asset tracking unlimited opportunities, as well as innovation in location intelligence and crowdsourcing, the whole being illustrated by a wide range of case studies.

Polymorph is proud to have been a finalist in the Geo IoT Awards competition. Congratulations to CROWDLOC, as the winners of the category we entered (IoT Solutions empowered by GNSS). Congratulations to all the award winners below:

  • “Indoor Location & Proximity Services” category: Onyx Beacon
  • “IoT Networks” category: Sewio Networks
  • “IoT Solutions empowered by GNSS” category: CROWDLOC
  • “Location Intelligence” category: Wittra

My talk was on the importance of context when tracking location and ensuring that the information received is related to the event or person it is received by. Using our work with Bloodhound as an example, I could illustrate this importance in a tangible and clear way. It was a great event and we thank Geo IoT for the invitation and for being awesome hosts!

And of course, what would a trip be without finding favourite food? Best place in Brussels for mussels is Chez Leon. To wash the mussels down, beer. My favorite beers were any Trappist beers, which are beers brewed in monasteries by or under control of Trappist-Cistercian monks. There are only ten of these breweries in the world and Belgium has six: Achel, Chimay, Orval, Rochefort, Westmalle & WestVleteren.

A word of warning if you are in Belgium and start eating mayo on your frittes, chances are tomato sauce just won’t hit the spot anymore… But no worries, the moment I returned home I switched back to good ol’ All Gold!
